The Character Team Supervisor at Westgate Resorts will involve supervising character performers, acting as a liaison with leadership, and providing frequent updates and fresh ideas to enhance guest experiences. The role may also step into a costumed character role as needed, ensuring a warm, inviting, and magical atmosphere for all Guests, Owners, and Team Members. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external guests, ensuring all interactions reflect Westgate’s welcoming culture.
- Conduct daily warm-ups and pre-shift meetings to prepare the character team for success.
- Supervise scheduled activities, character interactions, and performances, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Act as a liaison to leadership by sharing updates, feedback, and creative ideas to improve guest experiences.
- Maintain a positive and energetic presence at all Westgate-sponsored events, parties, and character experiences.
- Assist with greeting Guests and Owners at the Welcome Booth, Lobby, and during daily check-ins as needed.
- Ensure character team participation at on-property events and gatherings, interacting with families and children.
- Prioritize the safety of characters and guests, enforcing safety rules when necessary.
- Maintain department training standards and uphold character integrity throughout all interactions.
- Oversee the cleaning, storage, and proper handling of character costumes to maintain quality and hygiene.
- Support character performers by acting as a mascot handler and assisting with costume changes when needed.
- Engage with Guests and Owners by facilitating photo opportunities and ensuring a memorable experience.
- Provide special attention to children, creating magical moments that leave a lasting impression.
- Step into a costumed character role when needed, maintaining character performance standards.
- Adapt to the needs of events and guest interactions, demonstrating a positive and professional attitude.

- Character performing is a plus, but not necessary.
- One to two years of supervisory experience preferred
- High School Diploma
- The individual must be able to walk freely and efficiently in a character mascot costume that could weigh up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to speak English is required; Bilingual is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to create a fun and engaging environment for guests of all ages.
- Experience in entertainment, performance, or hospitality roles preferred.
- Knowledge of safety protocols for character performances and guest interactions.
- Demonstrates an enthusiastic, creative and passionate attitude for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will need to be able to stand and perform large physical gestures while enclosed in a costume. Will also need to be able to walk, crouch, bend over and maneuver tight spaces and sign, all while remaining in character. May also be required to stand at a station for the duration of the shift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 15lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Conduct daily upkeep of inventory, ordering supplies, and tracking guest interactions. Create weekly schedules to be placed in the team member area.
- Communicate with management any concerns regarding safety, efficiency, or Team Member performance.
- Conduct recognitions and coaching, both planned and in-the-moment.
- Ensure costume upkeep and track and report any costume damages to management. Assist with interviewing candidates and being a driver behind their onboarding and training.
- Attend weekly meetings with leadership to discuss operation and any current or future creative designs and activities.
