Job Description

You will be responsible for leading and managing the Engineering Department. With your solid technical knowledge and leadership skills, you will help ensure the smooth operation of our facilities, maintaining high guest satisfaction standards and promoting continuous improvement initiatives.

As an Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Directs workers engaged in painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
  • Maintains time and production records
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised
  • Execute the strategic vision and direction of the Engineering Department, aligning with the resort’s overall goals.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the maintenance team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence, while ensuring accountability.
  • Implement, train, and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe environment for guests and employees.
  • Assist in managing the Engineering Department’s budget, including capital reservations, P&L reviews, and expense forecasting.
  • Participate in developing and managing maintenance programs, procedures, and schedules to optimize departmental efficiency.
  • Support the planning and execution of major capital improvement projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budgets, and timelines.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify maintenance needs, safety issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to facilitate efficient and cost-effective maintenance operations.
  • Manage the procurement and inventory of all tools and materials purchased or assigned to the Engineering Department.
  • Ability to create documents using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in using resort operations software and devices (HotSOS).
  • Communicate professionally through radios, phones, emails, and verbal interactions.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Expert ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical data, and O&M manuals.
  • Must be able to recognize and resolve potential hazards on the property.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and battery-powered tools, along with other relevant tools required for the job.
  • Ability to work using ladders, scaffolding, lifts, dust masks, and within confined or restricted spaces.
  • Capable of understanding and addressing guest needs with positive interactions toward resolution.
  • Must adhere to all CFI/Westgate Resorts policies and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by resort operations leadership.

To perform this job successfully, you must have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Additionally, the person must possess and adhere to the following core values:

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of leadership experience in a resort or commercial environment
  • Preferred licenses or certifications in key trades such as refrigeration, plumbing, or electrical.
  • OSHA safety certification is preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Must be detail-oriented with effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to various tasks, perform effectively under pressure, and meet deadlines consistently
