The Housekeeper serves as a key member of the resort’s operation team. The Housekeeper is responsible for general appearance and cleanliness of owner’s rooms and public areas of the resort. The Housekeeping staff regularly interacts with the owners and guests, and as such, is an owner’s vision of VI Resorts by Westgate.
As a Housekeeper, you will:
- Remove any debris from the guest’s room and common spaces including but not limited to garbage/recycling, food waste, and dirty linens.
- Manage the bed and bathroom linens including: the changing of linens, removal of dirty linens from the units, inventory of dirty linens, transportation of dirty linens to the laundry facility* and pick up of clean linens.
- Clean all floor surfaces using the appropriate tool (vacuum, broom, mop, etc.), including under and around furniture, and along edges with a crevice tool.
- Steam clean floors as directed by management.
- Clean/dust all surfaces in the units with the appropriate tool including but not limited to a. Windows, sills, frames, and spot clean blinds/curtains as needed. b. All mirrors, artwork glass, and frames. c. All furniture including but not limited to tables, bed frames, couches, and nightstands. d. Clean all doors inside and out including exterior doors.
- Clean and sanitize all bathrooms. Includes all toilets, tubs, sinks, showers, and floors.
- Clean kitchens including but not limited to cleaning surfaces, cleaning appliances, and emptying refrigerator and disposing of contents. Place dirty dishes and utensils into dishwasher and start dishwasher.
- Replenish guest supplies to standards established by management.
- Return all lost and found items as directed by management.
- Follow the process to report all items and areas requiring maintenance for each unit. Report any and all changes in the room to the supervisor.
- Immediately report any and all damaged or missing items to the supervisor.
- Verify kitchen and room inventory and document results on the inventory sheet.
- Follow procedures for use of chemical cleaners and housekeeping equipment.
- Follow procedures to report the completed room to the Supervisor, Inspector/Prepper, or person designated by management.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Keep housekeeping storage rooms and cabinets clean and orderly.
- Clean common areas (lobby, hallways, game room, guest laundry room, etc*).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Previous housekeeping or hospitality industry experience is preferred
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills in person and via telephone
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment when dealing with owners and staff members
- Ability to interact with co-workers and guests via verbal and written communication
- Basic math, inventory, and organizational skills
- Required to lift 10 – 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee will be occasionally required to push/pull up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Valid Driver’s License (may be required at some resorts)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required
