Job Description

The purpose of the Resort Operations Director is to assist in managing the resort's daily operation, maintaining established costs and quality standards. The Resort Operations Director is responsible for maintaining the resort assets, development of the resort human resources and owner/guest satisfaction; and assisting in all financial responsibilities of the resort and is also responsible for assisting in all board communications as well as meetings.

As the Resort Operations Director, you will:

  • Direct and oversee all operations at Westgate resort.
  • Provide senior leadership by developing and assuming key management responsibilities.
  • Assume the role of liaison between all departments within the hotel.
  • Select, supervise, train, develop, coach, schedule, discipline, and counsel staff. Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics that empower and inspire team members to meet and exceed standards.
  • Ensure that team members are always attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient in their interactions with guests, management and all other team members.
  • Assist in recruiting, training and ongoing training of all staff.
  • Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate sponsored training programs.
  • Perform timely appraisals of resort managers.
  • Organize monthly meetings and perform follow up to all staff.
  • Ensure resort inventory is managed effectively to attain the highest yield per resort objectives.
  • Conduct weekly Operations Meetings.
  • Develop strategies and work with department leaders to improve revenue performance, reduce expenses, improve guest and team member satisfaction.
  • Actively involved with Operation Leaders in conducting property inspections and developing action plans to correct deficiencies.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with department managers.
  • Establish and uphold a strong safety culture with all departments and team members.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting the resort annual business plan.
  • Assist in managing and achieving all areas of budgets by implementing proper controls.
  • Utilize forecasting tools and historical measurements to assist in ordering supplies, scheduling staff and manage overall operating expenses.
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
  • Hold a monthly financial review with all department managers.
  • Ensure that all department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels.
  • Perform periodic audits to ensure all financial controls.
  • Ensures all financial SOP's are being followed as outlined in the Financial SOP checklist.
  • Anticipate and document capital expenditure requirements.
  • Maintain personal contact with owners and guests of resort.
  • Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and team member satisfaction results.
  • Monitor and maintain procedures for safety of guest and team members.
  • Maintain high levels of service as outlined in the SOP manual.
  • Perform weekly inspections to ensure quality.
  • Ensure all communication standards are being met and all administration and fiduciary duties are being carried out.
  • Assist in maintaining all reporting SOPs and timelines as outlined by the General Manager.
  • Must be visible and be able to assist guests as needed in a friendly manner.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

 


Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5+ years progressive leadership experience in the Hospitality Industry.
  • Union experience preferred for identified locations.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices such as might be acquired through a pertinent baccalaureate educational program or its equivalent in experience, training, or independent study, of basic principles, concepts, and methodology.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write and speak English fluently, Spanish, French and other languages is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from team members, managers, clients, owners/guests, and the public.
  • Strong general management skills, including time management, information analysis, planning and organizing, decision making, problem solving and delivery of results.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget management, expense control, forecasting, inventory management, ordering and analysis of financial statements.
  • Strong people management skills, including coaching, motivating, delegating, scheduling and relationship building.
  • Must be flexible in working when needed and when business demands, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Always provides a professional image through appearance and dress.
