Job Description

The Security Specialist is a technical surveillance technician who, under direction, installs, operates, maintains, and repairs technical surveillance equipment across Westgate Resort’s properties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, maintain, and repair technical surveillance equipment throughout the resorts and corporate offices.
  • Safely operate and work on an aerial work platform or ladder.
  • Install and terminate network cabling as needed (CAT5, CAT6).
  • Conduct training sessions for security and management staff on the use of surveillance equipment.
  • Research, evaluate, and provide recommendations regarding the procurement of new equipment.
  • Document and maintain detailed records, including service requests, equipment locations, updates, and repairs.
  • Schedule and coordinate services with outside vendors.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Respond to on-call requests for service outages in high-liability areas.
  • Test and evaluate new equipment.
  • Catalog and inventory equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Travel to sites in and out of state as required.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Work holidays and weekends as necessary.
  • Collaborate with resorts, corporate locations, and risk management to research and provide video evidence as required.
  • Work closely with IT and risk management on video projects and investigations as needed.
  • Possess the necessary hand tools for the role.
  • Focus on security systems
  • Hands-on installation work
  • Technical knowledge of wiring, fiber optics, and CCTV

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience

    • An associate's degree or its equivalent, along with 2-5 years of experience in the field or a related area, may be required.
    • Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the related field.
    • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
    • Must be knowledgeable about state, federal, and fire code guidelines.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    • Certificates in a related field are a plus.
  • Physical Demands

    • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
    • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to climb a 12-foot ladder and perform work above the technician's head while on the ladder.
