Join our brand-new Mobile App Development Team as a Software Engineer II and help bring our mobile technology in-house. We support fully remote ( in or out of state ), hybrid, or in-office work options at our Ocoee, FL Corporate Office location, providing flexibility to match your workstyle and career goals.
In this role, you’ll design, build, and evolve Westgate’s guest-facing apps using Java, Angular, and modern tech stacks, while collaborating in an agile, team-oriented environment. Job Responsibilities:
- Develops websites, forms, and PL/SQL to bring stakeholder requirements to life with minimal guidance from the project lead
- Works effectively in a rapid agile SDLC
- Contributes to sprint planning, backlog grooming, standups, and retrospective meetings
- Adapts quickly and learns new ways of solving problems
- Identifies gaps in ticket requirements and collaborates with the team to address them
- Applies strong understanding of design patterns and knows when to use them
- Integrates with REST backend APIs
- Troubleshoots bugs independently
- Dives into code to better understand system functionality
- Implements code review feedback provided by the project lead
- Seeks to learn how Westgate operates and gain deeper understanding of business processes
- Ensures code is fully tested prior to release
- Follows all team coding standards
- Answers questions about their code and projects from teammates and cross-functional partners
- Provides estimated timelines for completing development tasks
- Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical team members
- Bachelor’s degree in a software-related discipline (or equivalent industry background)
- 3+ years of hands-on work in software development across Unix and Windows environments
- 3+ years of proficiency with Java and Angular is required
- 2+ years working with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)
- Understanding of PL/SQL (Oracle’s procedural extension of SQL)
- Background in hotel, timeshare, or rental industries
- Knowledge of Oracle
- Familiarity with legacy enterprise systems
- Involvement in migrating older technologies onto modern tech stacks
