Job Description

General Summary Of Duties:

Prepare/serve beverages as ordered by Banquet Waiters. Provide the beverage to the banquet guest in a friendly, courteous and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction.

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar. This includes requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce based on projections from the function sheet.
Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to insure product quality.
Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner. 
Mix, garnish and present drinks as requested by cocktail servers and/or waitresses using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
Lock up and store all beverage, food and other equipment items.


Qualifications

Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of beverage items and hotel services.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to read and utilize math skills for portion control, measurements and requisitions.
Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to deal with internal/external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve problems and concerns.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions and to provide clear direction/guidance.  Ability to relate to all levels of management, guest and other employees in verbal/written form.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal instructions from management, guest and other employees.
Communicate with supervisor throughout the shift.
Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to use glasses, bottles and cork screws.
Ability to operate equipment including: portable bar, ice, push carts and bar wrench.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in case of emergency situations and to read caution and/or safety notices.
Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision and multiple interruptions.
Adheres to control procedure for beverage costs, portion control, and quality.
Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing/restocking workstation with supplies.
Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to comprehend product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes.
Keep spoilage/waste to a minimum by ordering and utilizing proper quantities and rotating products/inventory.
Mathematical skills necessary to verify/balance reports and perform calculations.
Cashiering skills necessary to receive/make change, record/verify charges and secure/balance a money bank.
Listen and respond to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice, answer questions and offer assistance giving accurate information.
Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to employee or management inquiries/concerns using a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions, and/or offering assistance giving accurate information regarding plans, policy or procedures within guidelines.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to complete job requirements and communicate with other employees.
Ability to deal with a number of problems requiring good initiative and good judgement.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction, instruction and guidance to staff.  Assign and instruct all personnel in details of work.  Observe performance and encourage improvement.  Monitor workload and make staffing adjustments accordingly.
Respond to guest inquiries.  Provide guest satisfaction through assistance, direction and information within hotel guidelines.
Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.

Typical physical / mental demands

Ability to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry 25-50 lbs., or otherwise, move or push goods on a cart and move portable bars weighing a maximum of 200 lbs. on a regular schedule.
Ability to walk to a maximum of 2 miles per shift for l0% of time.
Ability to remain alert throughout the duration of shift and remain calm during heavy volume periods/emergency situations.
Ability to stand and work in confined space for long periods of time. 
 

Typical Working Condition:

Ability to work in unfavorable conditions which can occasionally be hot, noisy and wet.
