Job Description

General Summary Of Duties:

Responsible for keeping the computer network up-to-date and operating as intended.  Responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading any software or hardware required to efficiently run a computer network. 

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

  • Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
  • Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, good put, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
  • Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
  • Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
  • Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
  • Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Qualifications

Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

Network Performance Tuning, Wifi access point configuration, LAN Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation, Problem Solving, Strategic Planning, Multi-tasking, Quality Focus, Coordination, Technical Understanding, Quick Study. 

Experience  Requirements

Working knowledge of the following:  Ruckus AP, wifi, Cisco and Brocade switches, Cisco Call Manager, VLAN’s and VLAN trunking, Access Point configuration, Quality of Services, both Voice, Video, and Data.  Familiar with or knowledge of spanning tree protocol and port channels and the configuration and support of firewalls.

This position will be customer facing and require a professional appearance, good communications skills, and outstanding customer service skills.

This positions will require flexible work hours based on events in our convention space.  Weekends, nights, and holidays could be required.  Hours of work will vary based on convention needs. 


Additional Information

The network administrator must have 3+ years of networking experience.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Higher
  • CCNA certification a plus
