Build Your Future, Tool by Tool: The Engineer’s Edge Program

Posting date: 05/27/26

At Westgate Resorts, we believe those interested in Engineering jobs shouldn't have to figure it all out on their own. Whether you’re starting or a seasoned technician looking to level up, we’ve built a bridge to take you exactly where you want to go.

It’s called the Engineer’s Edge Program, and it isn’t your typical corporate training. It’s a high-tech, hands-on career engine designed to turn entry-level roles into lifelong leadership opportunities.

Here is why our unique Engineer’s Edge Program is standing out as a pathway for engineers across the country.

1. A Roadmap with Zero Guesswork and Full Flexibility

Ever feel stuck in a role because you aren’t sure what the "next step" actually looks like? We’ve removed the mystery. The Engineer’s Edge provides a clear, structured roadmap from Tech I to Tech III and all the way to Supervisory roles.

  • Auto-Enrollment: From day one, your learning path is assigned. No applications, no red tape.
  • Promotion Readiness: Completing your courses demonstrates to your manager that you’re ready for a promotion.
  • Success Story Spotlight: We’ve seen team members start as Tech IIs and rise through the ranks to become Chief Engineers. The path is real, and it’s proven.

2. High-Tech Learning

Forget dusty manuals and boring slide decks. Our digital learning is available as and when you need it and fits around your schedule.

  • Interactive Simulations: As you rise in rank, a handful of the courses available will see you step into digital rooms to solve puzzles and troubleshoot systems in a 3D environment!
  • Accessible Anywhere: Learn in the office, at home, or on your tablet. It’s fully virtual and always available.
  • A Living Resource: You don’t just "pass and forget." You can reference these modules at any time throughout your career. If you’re tackling a complex HVAC issue six months from now, your training is right in your pocket.

3. Skill-Based, Not Time-Based

We value your talent, not just your "time served." The program is self-paced, meaning your advancement depends on hitting benchmarks, not waiting for a calendar date.

  • Flexibility: If business needs are high, you can focus on the field. When things quiet down, you can dive into 200+ available courses!
  • Efficiency: Some techs fly through the 60–100 hours of core training; others take their time to master the craft. You control the speed of your career, creating a perfect work-life balance and on-the-go learning.

If you’re interested in upskilling more broadly in hospitality, read the following:

4. Master it All!

It’s no secret that in the hospitality industry, you need to be multi-talented.

While some companies pigeonhole you into one trade, The Engineer’s Edge ensures you are well-rounded. You’ll gain deep knowledge in:

  • HVAC & Electrical Systems
  • Plumbing (The hardest skill to find—and the most rewarded!)
  • Appliance Repair & Diagnostics
  • Safety & Compliance

By the time you reach Tech II or III, you aren’t just a "fixer"—you’re a specialist capable of diagnosing complex issues and managing vendors with confidence.

5. Earn While You Learn (For Free)

In many industries, obtaining certification in HVAC or CPO (Certified Pool Operator) can cost thousands of dollars and require attending additional training.

You don't need a degree to build a foundation of technical knowledge. We provide the tools; you provide the motivation.

At Westgate, we provide the time and resources for you to train in these areas for free within our Engineering jobs. It’s worth mentioning that while our training is comprehensive and can enable you to confidently work in our engineering teams, you won’t actually earn HVAC, CPO, or other certifications that are transferable and accredited.

If you were to pursue accredited courses in the future, however, you would gain much of the knowledge that would be taught in those certifications.

Don’t just take it from us - hear from our Engineers:

Duncan McCotter at Branson Woods highlighted:

“Engineer's Edge greatly helps expand the skillset needed to complete the job, and I recommend it.

"It has helped me understand the more detailed side of this career and how to be a more independent and proficient Team Member."

Is the Engineer’s Edge Program Right for You?

If you want a role where you’re self-sufficient, highly skilled, and guaranteed a path upward, you belong here!
