We are looking for a skilled and passionate Sushi Cook to join our kitchen team. The Sushi Cook will be responsible for preparing and presenting cold and hot high-quality sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and tempura dishes in a fast-paced and high-energy environment. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of sushi preparation, fryers, knife skills, and an appreciation for fresh, high-quality ingredients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare (hot and cold) sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and tempura items following established recipes and techniques.
- Ensure the quality, freshness, and presentation of food.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area.
- Work with a variety of ingredients such as fish, seafood, rice, and vegetables.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene guidelines.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Ensure all sushi/fryer dishes are prepared in accordance with customer specifications.
- Proven experience as a sushi chef or cook.
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including rice cooking and fish slicing.
- Familiarity with various sushi rolls, sashimi, and tempura dishes.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and maintain focus.
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for food.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in a high-volume sushi restaurant.
